DISASTER REPORT
Interference Alleged (N.g. Press Association) ■ AUCKLAND, Oct 13. There tmi strong implication of Ministerial interference in the Strongman Mine disaster inquiry, Mid the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Elk) today, when questioned about the report on the subject from Wallington yesterIday. The Minister of Mines (Mr Shand) said the report had [been. referred back to the I commission fpr further elucidation of a section. Other sources, however, were reported as saying that the report in one small secItion is highly critical of an aspect of mine administraItion. Mr Kirk said that the proper course would be to publish .the report of the commission now, and if any explanations were required they cbuld be obtained then In a proper way. By referring the report back to the commission there was room for suggestion that the Minister was not satisfied with it, he said. “It is not the job of the commission to satisfy the I Minister,” said Mr Kirk. "The job is to present the facts, las it saw them."
