GLENBROOK DISPUTE
Mr Kirk Urges ; Negotiation (NX. Preae Saaoeiatim? ' AUCKLAND, Oct 12. , The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) told the 200 “rolling stoppage” strikers > at Glenbrook steel site this j morning: “The sooner this t dispute is settled the better , things will be for you, for > the job and for the country.” ; The stoppages had been going on for too long, he said. "The dispute must be settled by negotiation on terms and conditions suitable to both parties,” said Mr Kirk. Mr Kirk and other Labour members of Parliament who visited the site were shown round by the chairman of New Zealand Steel (Sir Woolf Fisher). The rolling stoppages concern a dispute over a site agreement Since they started on October 2, 5571 working hours have been lost on the job.
