Lost Property Auctioned

A surfboard which fetched $2B was the highest priced of the 142 lots of lost and unclaimed property offered at auction yesterday on behalf of the New Zealand Police Department. Cigarettes and cameras, clothing and car wheels, rifles and wrist watches and travel bags and transistor radios were some of the lots sold.

A .22 rifle sold for $l4, and a .303 rifle for $lO. The watches all sold for under $6. Women’s hand purses were the most numerous items in the sale. The auctioneer was Mr R. Leith.
