CHARGE BY FARMERS

Woolbuyers’ Denial

An allegation by Mr W. R. Martin, president of Auckland Federated Farmers, printed yesterday, that v oolbuyers had succeeded in getting the floor price for wool lowered once and now wanted to remove it, was denied last evening by the president of the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association (Mr B. P. Hill). The association had often offered advice in the present situation, and also before the establishment of the recent floor price, said Mr Hill. It had never presumed to direct or tried to formulate policies which had been matters for the Wool Board, Wool Commission, or farmers.

“No effort has been spared in trying to provide statutory bodies with the most up-to-date information,” Mr Hill said, “The association has never been guilty of trying to force their hands, but rather it has endeavoured to ensure that they act with full knowledge of all salient factors.”
