GUEVARA’S DEATH Brother Unable To See Body

LA PAZ, October 13.
A brother of the guerrilla fighter Ernesto “Che” Guevara arrived in La Paz from Argentina yesterday after he was refused permission to go to Vallegrande, where his brother is buried.
A Government spokesman said after Mr Roberto Guevara’s arrival that he “was not authorised to proceed to Vallegrande.”
The brother has made no statements to the press, although it was reported he came to La Paz to request permission to see “Che’s” body. Meanwhile, members of the Guevara family in the Argentine said yesterday that they
doubt the man killed in Bolivia was “Che.” Some of the Guevara cousins and nephews said published radiophotos of the dead man had been carefully studied.
Most found a likeness, but not enough to prove that he was the man killed by the Bolivian Army.
A Bolivian Government source said last night that it was possible that the body of Guevara will be turned over to his family so that he may be buried in Argentina. “Officially the armed forces are against this procedure,” said the source, who asked not to be identified. "However, the President, Mr Rene Barrientos, and the Foreign Minister, Mr Walter Guevara Arze are of the opinion that the body should be handed to Guevara’s family.”
