Shipyards Attacked

Twb shipyard facilities in Haiphong, previously on the Pentagon’s restricted list of targets, were attacked for the first time in the Vietnam war yesterday. The United States Command announced today. In heavy raids around Haiphong, North Vietnam’s key port city, Navy pilots also made repeat strikes on the Cat Bi airfield, capable of handling MiG Interceptors, even though none has been reported spotted there in recent months, and the city’s army barracks. The airfield is four miles south-east of the centre of Haiphong, while the barracks is only three miles south of the heart of the city.
Nobel Prize-winner Dies.— Sir Cyril Hinshelwood, a Nobel prize-winner and internationally-known chemist, died at his home in London on Monday. He was 70. London, October 13.
