Rail Ferries Booked

WELLINGTON, Oct. 11

The Railways Department announced today that vehicle space on the Cook Strait rail ferries had been fully taken up for all sailings from Wellington between December 19 and January 1 next year.

Space was still available on some sailings before and after these dates.

Space for motor vehicles on sailings from Picton, was fully booked from December 21-24 and from January 6-17. Limited space was otherwise available on one or more of the three or four sailings each day.

The rail ferries will make 18 extra trips each way between December 18 and January 21—the height of the holiday season..

Fishing limit.—The JapanNew Zealand Fisheries Agreement, which limits the number of Japanese fishing vessels allowed to operate in New Zealand waters—will come into practical effect today.—(P.A.)
