Soft Track Should Suit Blue Baron

“The Press" Special Sereice AUCKLAND. Blue Baron, which has a liking for winter tracks, has a form background that makes him an excellent prospect for the main flat event, the Jellicoe Handicap, at Ellerslie today.

His chance will be all the better if there is further rain and the footing is loose, rather than very holding.

Blue Baron ended a run of failures with a win over fix furlongs in the Telegraph Handicap at Avondale on July 8. In the meantime, he failed over seven furlongs at' Pukekohe and finished fourth over a mile and a quarter at Matamata. A very wide barrier position probably settled Blue Baron’s chance at Pukekohe. He won impressively at Avondale and. after leading from the half-mile, ran on gamely at MatamatA To all appearances he came through the racing in capital order. From Matamata, where he carried 7-13, Blue Baron Is up 41b in the Jellicoe Handicap, and he has 31b less than he carried at Avondale.
