Kaiapoi
Sir,—With imagination and planning the north arm of the Waimakariri river, or Cam, would be turned into a very attractive aquatic centre by dredging and perhaps later a type of folding lock gate to prevent water receding at low tide. One of the ships now idle at the wharf could be converted to take passengers joy-riding to the river mouth. There are endless possibilities for every water sport. In Palmerston North a lagoon was similarily dealt with very successfully. The Initial outlay will be amply repaid by extra business for the town, and entertainment for all. Where there is a will, there is a way to progress.—Yours, etc., MYRA J. WRIGHT. August 4, 1967.
