APPLICANTS FOR SCHOOL
Dept. Seeking Names A request by the Department of Education for names and addresses of pupils who applied for entry to Christchurch Boys* High School in 1968 was discussed at a meeting of the school’s board of governors this week. Mr A. Milne, the chairman of the board read a letter from the Regional Superintendent of Education (Mr S. S. P. Hamilton) which said that the department would like a list of pupils who had been accepted or rejected for the school next year. "The department’s job is to see that every child in New Zealand receives a secondary education and I can see why they want this sort of thing from us,” said Mr K. A. Gough, a member of the board. It was decided to receive the letter and to defer action until the reasons for the request we reknown.
