SYDNEY The marker began the new financial year with heavyweight B.H.P dominating trading, with a 56c rise to an ail time high of 1000. Ten out of the 14 groups rose. Mining stocks were a shade firmer. C.R.A. gained 24c to 830. Oils were quiet. Banks were steady. The turn-over of 1,087.000 including 514,000 mining was heavy.

MELBOURNE B.H.P. highlighted yesterday’s trading, selling up to 1000 before closing 50c higher at 996. Most other issues moved narrowly higher. Base metals were buoyant with nickel shares in demand again. Western Mining rose 40c to 1940. Oils were steady.
