Vandals Smash Truck
A truck was deliberately smashed with iron bars and spanners after it had been converted from a farm in Harewood road last week-end.
The £4OO vehicle was taken from the farm of Mr P. P. H. Blokker on Saturday evening, and was found, badlydamaged, in Shipleys road the next morning. Mr Blokker, who has been on his farm for about two months, said the damage was about £2OO. The windows, headlights and instrument panel were smashed, wiring was ripped out, the doors were twisted and partly wrenched off, the body was extensively damaged, and the roof was partly caved in.
The conversion of the truck and the damage to it were reported to the Papanui Police, and detectives are investigating. Shipleys road, which carries little traffic, is only a short distance from Mr Blokkers’s farm.
