LOST CYCLE INQUIRIES
People should report missing bicycles to the police, the Chief Superintenent, (Mr C. S. Austing) said yesterday. Hundreds of bicycles were stolen in Christchurch each year and a staff of seven inquired into their loss. Mr Austing was commenting on a statement reported in the Durham Street Methodist Church newsletter that it cost approximately £20,000 a year for the police to track down stolen bicycles in Christchurch.
Mr Austing said that £lO,OOO would be more correct.
