The world light-weight champion, Carlos Ortiz, successfully defended his title on Saturday, stopping the challenger Ultiminio (Sugar) Ramos after Imin 18sec of the fourth round of a scheduled 15-round bout. The Puerto Rican-born champion brought the crowd of 25,000 to its feet early in the fourth round when he floored Ramos with a smashing combination of left and right punches. The Cuban-born Ramos, who now lives in Mexico City, rose at the count of eight, but Ortiz gave him no time to rest, punching him at will until Ramos was helpless and tiie referee stopped the fight. Ortiz had defended his title nine times since winning it from Joe Brown, on April 21, 1962.
