FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.-—An intense anticyclone is centred south-west of the South Island; there is a ridge of high pressure over the North Island. Forecast: Canterbury and Marlborough.—Southerly winds fresh about Cook Strait but elsewhere moderate and decreasing; cloudy and cool; some drizzle this morning. Nelson, Buller and Westland.—Light variable winds; fine, but cool. Outlook: Cloudy east of the ranges. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
