NORTH CANTERBURY There were no changes in the top placings after the eighth round in the North Canterbury senior Rugby competition on Saturday. With only a half point separating them, the match between Glenmark and Rangiora next week-end should be a highlight of the season. Results.—Ohoka 21. Points.—Rangiora 8, Glenmark 74, Oxford A 64, Ohoka 5, Loburn 3, Amberley 3, Kowai 24, Kaiapoi 2, Oxford B 14, Woodend 1. HURUNUI Kaikoura has increased its lead in the Hurunui competition. With ah upset win against Waiau, Cheviot gained its second victory of the season to draw equal with that team. Results.—Cheviot 14, Waiau 3: Kaikoura 22, Culverden 3; United a bye. Points.—Kaikoura 6, Culverden 34. Cheviot 24, Waiau 24, United 14. ELLESMERE Southbridge took over the lead in the Ellesmere competition after Lincoln scored an upset win over the previous leader, Leeston. Results.—Lincoln 20, Leeston 6; United 24, Black Diamonds 12; Darfield 6, Battalion 3; Southbridge 11, Irwell 0. Points. Southbridge 12, Leeston 11, Irwell and Lincoln 8, Battalion and Darfield 6, United 3. Black Diamonds 2. Black Diamonds and United have been relegated to B grade.
