Introduction
[By the president of the Publishers’ Association of Great Britain, PETER DU SAUTOY]
Although this exhibition has been arranged at a distance, by some 70 members of the Religious Book Publishers* Group of the British Publishers* Association, it is to those on the spot that thanks are due, to the Association of British Publishers’ Representatives resident in New Zealand and specially to the New Zealand Booksellers. The exhibition will be shown in Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin and Christchurch, and I hope that a display of this sort will result in many requests for religious books in bookshops throughout the country. Here will be found not only works of scholarship and learning, but many more general books that have much to offer to the non-specialist reader. We are also grateful to the National Council of Churches, for help and encouragement This display of books covers all denominations and is a fine example of Christian co-operation. The catalogue has been carefully subdivided Into categories for ease of reference, so that all readers can find what they want as quickly as possible. This arrangement means that overlapping cannot be avoided, but we feel that it is the most suitable and convenient plan for the particular purpose the Exhibition is intended to serve.
