Koral, Ettrick School Soundly
"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND. Visitors from Riverton, this time Koral, Ettrick and Arlelgh, were the horses which enlivened the training at Takanlnl yesterday in preparation far Ellerslie tomorrow.
AU three went soundly over four hurdles, with Koral showing all the skill for which he is known. Macdonald, a stablemate of the other three and the favourite for the Great Northern Hurdles, was kept 'to strong work over a mile with Eiffel Tower. The course for jumping and the No. 2 grass, where the fast work took place, were very soft. Koral, ridden by A. J.
Tweedie, just led Ettrick (W. J. Hillis) and Arlelgh (G. Lewis) after jumping four hurdles. Ettrick and Koral took the eye. Ettrick galloped freely and had an edge on Koral for speed, but Koral, with some great leaps, made ground on the other two at every fence, Koral and Ettrick are a . totallsator bracket In tbe Hunt Hurdlee. Koral looks pretty ceg- , tain to derive benefit from the ' race but Ettrick la ready to . go well. ; Eiffel Tower (W. J. Hillis) and Macdonald (Lewis) began from ; the mile and ran the last' six [ furlongs in imln 23 2-ssec, the last three In 41 3-ssec. Con- ; tjnulng fine weather might make all the difference to Eiffel Tower** prospects et the Great Northern meeting. He seems at ' his best on reasonably firm footing. First Mate was better; than Robin’s Report over four hurdles. Saint Silver (Fergus) jumped six hurdles well,. He is a competent jumper which seems to be improving. Craddock (Wyatt), imperial I (Raklander) and Kathey’s Son i (Medcalte) were together after - running six furlongs in Imln t 19*ec. Unpainted (Kempton) - easily led Dormer (Cale) in a working gallop over five fur1 longs In Imln 10 2-Ssec. '■ ~— •'
