The American pianist Abbey Simon has curtailed his tour of Australia and New Zealand because his mother is seriously ill. He left Sydney by air on Tuesday for New York. The Australian Broadcasting Commission, which had arranged Simon's tour, said the pianist had received a telegram in Brisbane informing him of his niother’s illness.
