RELICENSING VEHICLES
Post Method Recommended
The Post Office wants as many people as possible to relicence their motor vehicles and trailers this year by post. To promote this the Post Office has decided to mail relicensing papers to anyone who asks for them by telephone. This year the Post Office will have to cope with about 170,000 applications between Thursday and the end of June. To maintain a steady flow, about 8000 vehicles will have to be relicensed each working day.
Last year, about five per cent of all vehicles were relicensed by post but the Post Office hopes the percentage will be much higher this year. Completed application forms obtainable at any Post Office together with the appropriate fee should be posted to the Motor Registration branch. Labels will then be posted to vehicle owners. The new fees for relicensing are as. follows: Private or business car, £9 7s; truck, £9 8s 6d; light trailer, £3 4s 6d; heavy trailer, £5 4s 6d; motor-cycle. £6 0s 6d; power cycle. £2 10s 6d; tractor, £4 111 6d.
