PLOUGHING CONTEST

Win To Finn

Paavo Tuominen, erf Finland joint world champion ploughman for 1967, won the international ploughing contest at Wangaratta, Victoria. New Zealand’s representatives were placed eighth and tenth.

Competitors in the fourteenth world ploughing contest held at Prebbleton-Broad-field earlier in the month took part in the match, in which there were 24 ploughmen.

Gunnar Johansson, of Sweden, who tied for championship at Prebbleton-Broad-field, was well down the list at Wangaratta. According to a report sent to “The Press” by Mr E. A. E. The contest was on stubble. The quality of the work did not compare with that seen at Prebbleton-Broadfield, he said.

The placing, were:—P. Tuominen (Finland), 127 points, 1; P. Anderson (Australia), 124, 2; F. Krieglmeyer (Germany), 122, 3; A. Morrison (Australia), 121, 4; P. Skyrme (Great Britain), 119, ,5; C. Willis (Canada), 118, 6; K. Eelman (Netherlands), 113, 7; I. B. Blair (New Zealand), 111, 8; W. Green (Australia), 109, 9: S. M. Allison (New Zealand), 108, 10.
