SPEEDBOAT FUNCTION

The six members of the New Zealand speedboat team to compete in the world championships on the Valleyfield course, 30 miles from Toronto, will leave Auckland by air for Canada on June 21. The team is P. R. Knight, in Bel Air 11, Christchurch; E. H. Andrews, in Whacko, Hokitika; L. Fussell, in Gold Mist, Auckland; K. and J. McGregor, in Manta, Auckland, and the team . manager, Mr B. M. Andrews, Christchurch. The speedboats were shipped from Auckland three weeks ago. Messrs Knight, E. H. and B. M. Andrews were guests at a function arranged by South Island speedboat supporters in Christchurch on Saturday evening. The team will be given an official farewell by the New Zealand Speedboat Association in Auckland on June 20. Twenty-one supporters will

accompany the team. New Brighton Power Boat Club supporters who will be making the trip are: Mr and Mrs L. Evans, Mr and Mrs A. R. Idiens, Mrs P. Knight, Mr and Mrs L. Orange, and Messrs B. Sullivan and R. Savage. The party will visit San Francisco, Montreal, Toronto (to see Expo ’67), Seattle, Vancouver, Chicago, Detroit, the Niagara falls, Valleyfield (for the championships on July 14, 15 and 16), New York, Washington (for the Red Bank National Sweepstakes Speedboat Regatta on July 22 and 23) and arrive back in New Zealand on August 4.
