West Coast Team Named
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, May 28.
The West Coast Rugby League senior selectors (Messrs W. F. Mountford. J. R. McGrath and G. Menzies) have brought in the Marist loose forward, P. Crawford, to the West Coast representative team to play Canterbury at Christchurch on Queen’s Birthday. Crawford was not a member of the 17-man squad named by the selectors last week. The team is:—
Full-back, B. Mann (Runanga); wings, G. Maskill (CobdenKohinoor), M. P. Brereton (Marist); centres, W. Johnsen (Runanga), L. Brown (Marist); stand-off half, B. Sweetman (Marist); scrum-half, D. Monk (Runanga); props, J. Hibbs (Marist), L. Mahuika (Ngahere); hooker, P. Mason (Marist); second row, G. Rutledge (CobdenKohinoor). G. Cowan (Marist); loose forward, P. Crawford (Marist). Reserves: Back, N. Nahu (Cobden-Kohinoor); forward, G. McDonald (CobdenKohinoor). Canterbury Change
After the withdrawal of the Papanui utility player, C. Schwass, from the Canterbury training squad for the match against West Coast, the convener of the selection panel, Mr D. C. Wilson, . announced that the replacement would be a hooker, K. Blackler (Papanui). Mr Wilson said the team would not be named until the day of the match.
