Aid To Malaysia Two More Years

WELLINGTON, May 26. New Zealand’s programme of defence aid to Malaysia would continue until March, 1969, the Minister of Defence (Mr Thomson) said today.
Mr Thomson said this aid programme was approved in 1964. During the last three years the assistance, apart from direct military assistance, had involved equipment valued at £458,776 given to the Malaysian Armed Forces and para-military police units. The Minister Mid the equipment had Included weapons anu their spares, small-arms ammunition and spares for the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Loch class frigate. Mr Thomson said New Zealand was assisting with the conversion of two former Royal New Zealand Air Force Devon light transport aircraft which were to be given to the Royal Malaysian Air Force. Since the start of the programme New Zealand had
