Fund’s Head To Visit
The director for overseas work of the World Save the Children Fund (Lieutenant Colonel Hawkins), will visit Christchurch on June 7. He will give an acount of the fund's work in Vietnam, where he is visiting relief areas. It was decided at the monthly meeting of the North Canterbury branch of the, fund, that Colonel Hawkins would address a public meeting at the City Council Chambers in the afternoon and a further public meeting in the evening at the Merivale Church Hall in Church lane. The annual Rice Bowl appeal will be held by the branch from September 15-22. The president (Miss M. G. Havelaar) said all of the printing for the appeal had been done and that material had been assembled to send to local schools.
