Car Driver Killed
A car driver was killed and two passengers were injured when the car struck a large ditch digger in Ferry road last evening. The accident occurred between the Heathcote bridge and the Tunnel road roundabout shortly before 7 o’clock. The man killed was Thomas Peter Gilroy, aged 22 of 143 Huxley street. Mr L. A. Bettridge, of 36 Rowses road, and John Fahey, of 135 Seaview road, suffered serious head injuries. Mr Bettridge was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital, and Mr Fahey to the Burwood Hospital. Their condition last night was satisfactory.
