Coach Making Fourth Visit
A man who has done more than anyone else to shape the destiny of New Zealand men’s basketball will tour the Dominion next month with the American Venture for Victory team.
He is the prominent 40- I year-old American coach, Mr I S. K. Inman. This will be the fourth visit , to New Zealand for Mr Inman | who was the coach of the , highly successful San Jose i State College side which went ,
through the country unbeaten last season. Before this, he made two visits under the auspices of the American Department of State, conducting oMcfftag clinics and generally putting the game on the road to success. The secretary of the New Zealand Men’s Basketball Coaches* Ass oeiation (Mr R. I McCormick, of Christchurch) confirmed yesterday that Mr Inman had been appointed coach of the American Venture for Victory team. He said that he would definitely be in Christchurch for the game against Canterbury on July 8. However, Mr McCormick said. It was “most unlikely’’ that Mr Inman would conduct any coaching clinics on behalf of his association as he had done in the past The nature of the tour, which was an evangelical one, prevented this.
There was, however, every chance that Mr Inman would be available to speak to schools and other organisations if required, Mr McCormick said.
