R. J. 1 Christie, who was runner-up with his dog Ned, bed stayed with a relative in Dunedin on the way to the champion Alps. After loading the dogs next morning he travelled as far as St Andrews, where he decided to let the dogs out for exercise. One of them was then found to be missing. Mr Christie travelled on to Burke’s Pass and ran his other dogs on Wednesday. Meantime his missing dog had ben located at Dunedin. Mr Christie then returned to Dunedin for his dog, which gained second place. School Savings Lett year Pott Office grants amounting to £29,000 were made to schools which had Pott Office savings accounts for their pupils, said the Postmaster General (Mr Scott) in Parliament yesterday. At present more than 372,000 children had school savings accounts, he raid.—(PA.) Cholmondeley Appeal The weather had a definite effect on the response to the annual Cholmondeley Memorial Children’s Home appeal yesterday, said the organiser (Mrs E. Blackburn) last evening. The total counted by last night was £l7OO. Last year's total was £2125.
