HAMERSLEY SELLING AT LARGE PREMIUM
Hamersley Iron shares sold at large premiums on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. On the first day of its listing, three parcels changed hands, at premiums at the rate of 230 c a fully-paid share
In Christchurch, 300 Hamersley contributing shares were sold at 285 c, and a parcel of 200 at 290 c. In Wellington, a sale of 100 fully paid shares was recorded at 38s 9d. This is equivalent to 480 c. The 50c Hamersley shares were issued at a premium of 200 c, and 125 c was payable on application, although shares could be fully paid up at the option of the applicant. The share market lost ground, falls outnumbering rises two to one. Trading was subdued, but the Christchurch turn-over, although lower
than on Wednesday, was average. The falls were predominantly by first line stocks, and
rises confined to second rank issues. 8.H.P., Is 9d lower to 67s 9d, was a notable move.
