GAOLED FOR A YEAR
Burglary Of Garage A term of one year’s imprisonment was imposed on Leslie John Stack, aged 26, a driver (Mr M. F. Hobbs), when he appeared for sentence before Mr Justice Gresson in the Supreme Court yesterday on a charge of breaking and entering the Blenheim road Service Station on February 19. Mr Hobbs submitted that the offence seemed to have been pointless and profitless, and the prisoner had gained little advantage from it. His greatest concern now seemed to be for his wife and children, indicating his career in crime was drawing to a close. Mr C. M. Roper, for the Crown, made no submissions. His Honour said that it had been said before that offences of burglary were all too prevalent in Christchurch, and this was a factor he had to take into account when considering sentence.
