PROTEST AT DELAY
Plantation’s Removal “This has dragged on for 18 months, and it was promised to be done before winter,” said Mr R. G. Armstrong, when the North Canterbury Hospital Board was told yesterday that Forest Service advice bad been sought on the removal of the pine-planta-tion at Burwood Hospital. Residents want the trees removed because their properties are shaded. Mr L. A. Bennett said it was essential that the board should consider itself as well as other people. The secretary (Mr J. G. Lauren son) said that City Council advice was that once cutting started, it would have to go on till completion, but as this would expose the septic tank area, the board was reluctant to do this. Subsequently, aerial photographs had had to be obtained so that the Forest Service could advise on logging and tendering procedures.
