OVERPROOF WHISKY
Licence Sought For Import (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 24. Negotiations to enable liquor merchants to import 20 per cent more whisky than normal, in overproof casked form, thus countering the effects of the 20 per cent cut in import licences, are continuing, says the Auckland Liquor Wholesalers’ Association. Bottling costs had still to be investigated. If negotiations are successful, the whisky will be bottled locally. It is believed that if this is successful similar moves will be made for brandy and rum.
