Patients Moved
A plaque commemorating the transfer of residents from the Teresa Green Home to the Lyndhurst Home for the aged, was unveiled by the chairman of the North Canterbury Hospital Board (Dr. L. C. L. Averill) at Lyndhurst yesterday morning.
The late Mrs Green was a member of the board for more than 30 years and gave much of her time to care for the aged. The Teresa Green Home, which was named after her, has been closed. Members of the board and guests were shown around Lyndhurst by the matron (Mrs J. E. Jones) after the ceremony. Among the guests of honour were Miss G. Green, daughter of Mrs Green, and Miss J. Trotter, the former owner and matron of Lyndhurst for 27 years. Before Miss Trotter’s term, Lyndhurst was a private surgical hospital owned by Miss Morris. In 1956 it was taken over by a group of doctors as a maternity home.
