Moderator Of Maori Synod

(N.Z. Pren Association) WHAKATANE, May 8. The Moderator of Te Hinota Maori, the Presbyterian Maori synod, for the next three years will be the Rev. C. Maitai who has been minister at Te Teko. A member of the Ngati-pbrou tribe, Mr Maitai grew up at Nuhaka, an ancient and historic Ngati-porou village on the coast between Gisborne and Wairoa. Before being ordained in 1961, he was assistant minister at Taumarunui for two years. As Moderator of the Maori synod he will not have a parish, but will regularly visit all the Presbyterian Maori parishes in the North Island.
