2 Coaches Proposed

Messrs D. A. Swanston and W. W. Thorpe will be approached to become joint coaches of the Canterbury Amateur Cycling Centre, a centre meeting decided last evening. After discussion at the annual general meeting, the filling of the position had been left to the first committee meeting. Mr Swanston has just completed a three-year term, but is riding again. Reinstatements. Applications for reinstatement from R. J. Weir, who last rode as an amateur in 1965, in which year he also rode cash, and W. J. H. Wood were approved and forwarded to the national council. Vice-president—The Westport club advised that Mr H. F. Litolff would be its vicepresident on the Canterbury centre.

Minutes Secretary.—Miss J. Wilson was welcomed as the centre’s new minutes secretary. The president (Mr H. C. Poore), who has served on the centre for 18 years, said it was the first time in his experience that the male domain of the sport had been invaded.

Kiwis Death.— A former New Zealand Rugby League re pre. sentative, Mr Thomas Neil Mouat, died on Monday, aged 68. He was captain of the first West Coast Rugby side to win the Seddon Shield. Later he switched to Rugby League, toured Australia with the 1925 Kiwis and the next year took part in the tour of America. England, and France.
