Executions In Ghana

(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) ACCRA, May 9. Two young Army lieutenants found guilty of leading an unsuccessful coup last month were executed by a firing squad today before a crowd of about 20,000 Ghanaians.

Members of the public were allowed to watch the executions, at a military firing range, from a special enclosure.

The two officers were Lieutenant Sam Arthur, aged 26, confessed leader of the abortive April 17 coup, and Lieutenant Moses Yeboah, aged 27, found guilty of killing Lieutenant-General Emmanuel Kotoka, the armed forces commander.
