Palmer, held a two-stroke lead after three rounds in the $115,000 champions’ international golf tournament on Saturday. Palmer, on 204 with rounds of 68, 66 70, was leading W. Casper, 206 (73, 68, 65) and F. Beard, 207 (67, 70, 70). R. J. Charles, of New Zealand, slumped to a nine-over par 80 after rounds of 72 and 74, and then said he was withdrawing from the tournament. “I was not playing too well, not feeling too well, so there was no point in going on,” he said. Charles’s 80 included a threeover, when his ball landed in water at the eighth, two twoovers and three one-overs.
