Ryan First In Mini-Marathon
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. M R Ryan, of Tokoroa, won the Waikato Road Runners Club 20-mile mini-marathon at Hamilton on Saturday. Ryan clocked a fast Ihr 43min 21sec in warm conditions, to win by more than three minutes. D. Smith (Cambridge) was second in Ihr 46min 45sec, and J. Robinson (Tokoroa) third, in Ihr 47min 17sec.
M.C.C. President.—The former England and Sussex cricket captain, Mr A. E R. Gilligan, will succeed Sir Alec Douglas Home as president of the M.C.C. He will take office on October 1. Second Fattest. —The New Zealander, D. Hulme, driving a Repco-Brabham, had the second fastest lap in practice for the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. J.
