Four Road Deaths At Week-end

Four road accident deaths, one at Dunedin and three in the North Island, were reported this week-end, according to the Press Association.

An accountancy student died in Dunedin Hospital on Friday night of injuries suffered when his scooter collided with a van at the intersection of South and Eglinton roads about 8.20 p.m. He was Brian James Scollard, aged 20, of 190 South road, Dunedin. ' The van was driven by William George Henderson, aged 25, of Dunedin. Pillion Rider Died A motor-cycle pillion rider was killed instantly and the rider suffered serious head injuries when the machine crashed into a bank on Mangakahia road, about seven miles south of Kaikohe at 1.15 p.m. yesterday. The dead man was Barry Copeland Edwards, aged 22, a farmer, of Awarua, 12 miles from Kaikohe. The injured man, Donald Finlay Roderick McMillan, about 21, of Te Tringa, near Kaikohe, was rushed to the Whangarei Hospital. His condition was regarded as serious. Struck By Car A man died after being struck by a car in Station road, Kamo, at 8.30 p.m. on Friday. He was Clarence Stuart Copeland, aged 58, married, of Hall street, Kamo.

Second Fatality A New Plymouth woman who was Injured when the car in which she was travelling rolled 400 yards off the Napier-Taupo highway on March 24 died in the Rotorua Hospital yesterday. She was Leone Mary Angus, aged 20, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs D. Angus, 280 Courtenay street, New Plymouth. The driver of the car, Harvey Sinton, aged 20, died in hospital 16 days after the crash.
