(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) (West Germany,) April 16. Dr. Konrad Adenauer’s family is keeping constant vigil by his beside as doctors fight to save the 91-year-old statesmen’s life.
The latest medical bulletin on the former Chancellor said he was calm and free from pain but there was no basic change in his condition. Dr. Adenauer, who led West Germany back to prosperity during his 14 years as Chancellor, was struck down by influenza and bronchitis. He is now in an oxygen tent at his Rhineside villa as doctors struggle to maintain his flagging circulation.
