MARKET FUND
Proposal To Govt. (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 13. The Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat, (Mr Arnold Smith) said today that he had approached the Government about a proposal to establish a Commonwealth Market Development Fund. He declined to state whether New Zealand supported the proposal for the fund — which would be used for trade promotional work. He also declined to state if other Commonwealth countries supported it. Mr Smith had already discussed the proposal with senior Ministers in India, Malaysia, Singapore, Ceylon and Pakistan, and would soon discuss it with Australian and Canadian officials.
