State Law Repealed (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NASHVILLE (Tennessee), April 13. Tennessee’s House of Representatives yesterday approved a bill to repeal the State’s controversial 42-year-old law which prohibits school teaching of any theory of evolution. The State Senate now must act on the bilL Earlier attempts to repeal the law, known as the “Monkey Law,” have failed. The law led to the famous Scopes trial of the 1920 s in which a young biology teacher, Mr John T. Scopes, was convicted of violating the law and fined 100 dollars—a fine he never paid.
