Child Dead In Pond
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 12. A 20-month-old baby girl was drowned today in the lily pond of a residence in Stratford. She was Cheryl Rae Fawkner, daughter of Mr and Mrs D. A. Fawkner, 27 Beaconsfield road, Stratford. Mr and Mrs Fawkner were just leaving their friends’ property at 1220 p.m. when the accident occurred. The baby, which had only just started walking, was missed for about five minutes. She was found some minutes later in the two-foot-deep pond at the back of the property.
