FIRE BY INTENT
Hospital To Be Razed (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, April 12. A team of firemen have volunteered to burn down an isolation hospital at Witton, Birmingham, to prevent risks of a smallpox outbreak. The firemen have been vaccinated against smallpox and will set the hospital ablaze next week when their inoculation becomes positive. The hospital was last used during a smallpox outbreak last year, but since then vandals have broken in and smashed windows. The firemen have been asked to make the blaze “as hot as passible” to kill all the living smallpox viruses still in the building.
