DUKE AT CEREMONY
Vimy Ridge Remembered (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ARRAS, April 10. The Duke of Edinburgh said at a First World War remembrance ceremony in Arras yesterday that all mankind should remember what happens when the nationalism and aggressive instincts of a people drag half the world Into war. The Duke, representing the Queen in her capacity as Queen of Canada, was speaking at a military ceremony marking the fiftieth anniversaiy of the Canadian assault on Vimy Ridge. Recalling the battle in front of 73 Canadian veterans and a crowd estimated at 15,000, the Duke said: “The First Great War was bad enough, but we did not learn the lesson and we let it happen again. There will be no third warning. The next time will be the end.”
