INTRUDER FOUND
Town Clerk Attacked (N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 9. The Town Clerk of Foxtoil, Mr G J. Gill, was hit on the head by an axe when he disturbed an intruder in the Foxton Borough Council offices at 5 p.nt yesterday. Mr Gill had gone back to the office to do some work when the man attacked him, inflicting two wounds. Mr Gill had 18 stitches inserted in the wounds but has now been discharged from hospital.
The Levin police said that a man had been arrested and would appear in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court tomorrow charged with burglary and aggravated assault
