(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, April 7. South Vietnam’s Constitutional Assembly has decided against reinstating the words “supreme being” in the preamble of the nation’s newlypromulgated Constitution, the Associated Press reported. The Assembly decided it lacked the power to amend the Constitution, which was put into effect last Saturday. The Assembly agreed, however, that a proclamation would be made to the nation which will state “this country is under God.” The words supreme being” had been deleted from the preamble of the Constitution while it was still being drafted and revised and before its formal adoption. The deletion had been made to avoid - controversy from various religious factions.
