The Abacus Favoured
King Taufa'ahau Tupou of Tonga has ordered 600 abaci for use in Tongan schools. If the experiment proves successful, more will be ordered. The King, long a keen student of this ancient Eastern computer, has been approached by the British firm supplying the order to write a treatise on their function and use suitable for both the European and American markets.—Tonga, March 31.
