(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SACRAMENTO (California). The American heavy-weight, Eddie Machen, aged 35, has announced his retirement from boxing. Machen, a former contender for the world championship, lost on points against Henry Clark yesterday, in the same ring where he began his professional career 12 years ago.
In 1964, Machen met Floyd Patterson for the right to challenge Cassius Clay. Patterson won on points.
