Imports
Sir,—ln addition to mentioning the dangly dolls and china ornaments, quoted in your news item of March 30, the Cawthron Institute scientist also said, “It is most frustrating to see shop windows full of luck trolls, knowing that one cannot buy electronic components to build a vital piece of laboratory equipment.” I would add that it is moronic for the army to buy its own type of lucky charms, in the form of new colours. Since the entire £B5OO cost appears to require overseas funds, it is particularly moronic at the present time—on a par with import licences for party hats, squeakers and clickers being cut by only 20 per cent instead of 100 per cent.—Yours, etc.
